May pagkakaiba ba ang “Si” lugaw at “ang” lugaw?

Netizens criticized Department of Interior ang Local Goverment (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III for making a comment about the ‘lugaw is not essential’ incident that happended between a rider and an enforcer.

An enforcer insisted that rice porridge or ‘lugaw’ cannot be considered an essential and is then not exempted in curfew guidelines implemented in the NCR Plus bubble.

Usec. Densing III in an interview with One PH then made the following remarks:

“Sabi niya kasi, non-essential si lugaw. Hindi talaga essential si lugaw. Pero kung sinabi niya, essential ang lugaw, ‘yun, tama yun. Ang lugaw. Pero si lugaw ang binanggit niya. Non-essential talaga yun sa pananaw namin.”

Netizens said Usec. Densing III is aluuding to someone as “Si” Lugaw which they feel is “cheap” and “disrespectful.”

The palace clarified that rice porridge is considered an essential item in this time of ECQ thus it is included in the exemption.
