An Open Letter to to Sir Bongbong Marcos,
Philippines.
Dear sir,
I hope you don’t mind me writing to you like this, but I just wanted to let me know that I will be supporting you in your bid to become the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Just to introduce myself, I am a British National living in the UK with a Filipino family. Like you, I feel a great sense of pride and love for the Philippines and her people. I am also incredibly proud to be part of a Filipino-British family. I have heard you speak in the past about restoring Filipino pride and love of country and unity. This is my greatest wish and desire too.
Having been back home to the Philippines over 50 times over the last three decades, I can say that I have grown a deep affection for the Philippines and the Filipino people. I know and believe in my heart that you want the best for the country, I also believe they you are a great statesman and have a vast amount of political experience and will use this for the good of the people.
Just to let you know too, I have over the last 6 years, been a strong supporter of President Duterte and his family, I believe that the Philippines has seen many improvements through the current administration, especially the Build Build Build program and also reduction in crime and illegal drugs throughout the country. I trust and hope that these same programs will continue through your presidency.
My support of the Duterte family will also continue earnestly.
On that note, I also support the tandem between yourself and Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, who I am very sure will go on to be elected as the next Vice President too. A position she truly deserves.
I have met Ma’am Sara personally in London and believe she is a great leader and stateswoman as well as of course a great role model for women. Through her, I believe the Duterte legacy will live on, I know that the vast majority of her supporters agree.
Please know I am praying for you both. Although as a foreigner, I cannot vote for either of you or campaign in the Philippines for your tandem, please note I am also praying that these seemingly nonsense petitions filed at Comelec against your presidential bid will not be successful.
Finally sir, I wish you and your team, as well as your supporters the very best. I also hope to be able to meet you personally next year and hopefully get to shake your hand to thank you for believing in the Filipino people and all they have and will achieve in the future.
Maraming Salamat po sir and more power.
Respectfully yours,
Malcolm Conlan
